Twenty-eight years later, the initial welcome by the human population has faded. The refugee camp where the aliens were located has deteriorated into a militarized ghetto called District 9, where they are confined and exploited in squalor. In 2010, the munitions corporation, Multi-National United, is contracted to forcibly evict the population with operative Wikus van der Merwe in charge. In this operation, Wikus is exposed to a strange alien chemical and must rely on the help of his only two new 'Prawn' friends.

What I liked about this movie besides being original and creative is that it keeps you on the edge of your seat. It's action packed and full of surprises. The special effects were amazing. I sometimes forgot that these creatures were fictional and computer animated. It's a guys movie. The only thing that got in the way of the story was the grotesque violence and pervasive language. I don't mind some violence but this was a blood bath. Language doesn't bother me sometimes until the "F word" becomes every other word and takes away from the dialogue. But, if you like sci-fi movies and violence, this may be the movie you would love to see! I do recommend it just don't watch it with children around! I give it 3 out of 5 stars.

The Lion King 3D

Bare with me as this is my first review. In 1994, Disney released their 32nd animated film, The Lion King. This classic, epic and beautiful film about finding your place in life has touched so many hearts, especially my own. It was the reason I started my life long dream of wanting to be a Disney animator. But, I'm not here to talk about how much I adore this movie, I could go on and on about that. It has been a big part of our lives, and it still stands strong 17 years later. What I am going to do is review the newest way of telling this amazing story. 3D.

When I first heard that Disney was re-releasing The Lion King in 3D in theaters, I was overjoyed! I was a little skeptical at first thinking, how in the world are they going to do this, and why would they ruin a classic film with a cheesy fad? But, I gave it a chance. If there was a last chance to see it in theaters, this would be it. What Disney did with the film was not ruin it (well you can't ruin that story), but enhanced it with the 3D. It gives it a whole new dimension, if you will. From the rolling hills, to the towering cliffs, you feel like you are right there in the Pridelands. When it came time for the wildebeest stampede, I was drawn in. The good thing is that it didn't make you go, "whoa" and duck for cover, but you still felt like you were trying to dodge them yourself! After awhile you forget that they are showing it in 3D. Every second you can tell was enhanced. The Scar and Simba battle scene was awesome, felt like you were hanging of that cliff with scar, being terrified of heights it wasn't easy to watch!

Well, I hope I was helpful with this review. I know it's not that long but I know it'll get easier for me to write these things as time passes on. Since I idolize this movie, it's hard to find flaws! Anyway, I highly recommend going to see this in 3D while you can. It's only in theaters for 2 weeks, so take your "pride", your friends, your significant other, or if you are like me, see it by yourself! But go see it!!!! You'll laugh, cry, get goosebumps "3" times as much!!

For my first review....

I have decided for my first review, which will be Friday, September 16, to do my all time favorite movie, The Lion King. It will be perfect since it is being re-released in theaters on that day, and it will be in 3D! So, come back Friday for my very first review!

The Preview

Film. Movies. The Cinema. There are several different words, but the experience is the same. There's always something about sitting in that uncomfortable seat in the middle row of the theater, the smell of fresh popcorn, and the sound of whispers from fellow movie goers. It's exciting! There are movies we love to hate and hate to love. This blog, my film going friends, will let me share my opinion on movies old and new. The ones that come home to DVD and Blu-Ray, and the ones that come fresh to the theater. So join me in my movie going experience. I hope you liked my preview. Enjoy!

Monday, September 12, 2011

Welcome to my Movie Review Blog!
