  • The Lion King 3D

Bare with me as this is my first review.  In 1994, Disney released their 32nd animated film, The Lion King.  This classic, epic and beautiful film about finding your place in life has touched so many hearts, especially my own.  It was the reason I started my life long dream of wanting to be a Disney animator.  But, I'm not here to talk about how much I adore this movie, I could go on and on about that.  It has been a big part of our lives, and it still stands strong 17 years later.  What I am going to do is review the newest way of telling this amazing story.  3D.

When I first heard that Disney was re-releasing The Lion King in 3D in theaters, I was overjoyed!  I was a little skeptical at first thinking, how in the world are they going to do this, and why would they ruin a classic film with a cheesy fad?  But, I gave it a chance.  If there was a last chance to see it in theaters, this would be it.  What Disney did with the film was not ruin it (well you can't ruin that story), but enhanced it with the 3D.  It gives it a whole new dimension, if you will.   From the rolling hills, to the towering cliffs, you feel like you are right there in the Pridelands.  When it came time for the wildebeest stampede, I was drawn in.  The good thing is that it didn't make you go, "whoa" and duck for cover, but you still felt like you were trying to dodge them yourself!  After awhile you forget that they are showing it in 3D.  Every second you can tell was enhanced.  The Scar and Simba battle scene was awesome, felt like you were hanging of that cliff with scar, being terrified of heights it wasn't easy to watch!

Well, I hope I was helpful with this review.  I know it's not that long but I know it'll get easier for me to write these things as time passes on.  Since I idolize this movie, it's hard to find flaws!  Anyway, I highly recommend going to see this in 3D while you can.  It's only in theaters for 2 weeks, so take your "pride", your friends, your significant other, or if you are like me, see it by yourself!  But go see it!!!!  You'll laugh, cry, get goosebumps "3" times as much!!
